Down below is a few of the extraordinary views from the ground floor of my proposed North Queensland Gallery Museum at Jezzine Barracks, Kissing Point, next to the Rockpool at the Strand in Townsville. Just imagine than the 360 degree views from the rest of the giant building of Defence housing, hotel and the Gallery and Museum. And all the green parkland will be preserved and the whole complex a Solar technology sensation. This is it ! All the present three presented options, in a nutshell. - Ture Sjolander, Dec. 05.
Someone have to play the second violin sometimes..
Impartiality for the very first time in Townsvilles media, after the last 20 years, That would be a History to celebrate ! But how to accomplish that, some "good friends" in the local media need to fired....?

GO THE WHOLE HOG
" Great tidings on this Christmas Eve.
A genius walks among us.
Here in Townsville.
Like all geniuses, he has a difficult name, just like Einstein, Wiitgenstien, Mooney, Reynolds...ahem, perhaps even Weatherup.
No, he's a real person, and his name is Ture Sjolander, who modestly omits the word genius from his self-description as a Townsville-based media artist and innovator.
Well, Ture, old son, you're all that and more, for you have cut through all the weasel words of the self-serving, point-scoring political debate about Kissing Point, and shown the way with some great lateral thinking.
The pic over there is just the start, with many a stylish building also planned for down the slope behind Kissing Point including a new entertainment centre, museum and other innovative structures.
This old bird is so overcome with tears of joy (no, no, not mirth) that he suggest you gaze in shock and awe at the brilliantly simple solution at
A matter of concept and not design at this stage - Ture Sjolander (so just show off your fantastic skills you hungry angry boys ! and girls) and not envy !
Actually it works completely the opposite way if you read the article: Sjolander feature Malcom Weatherup's fantasy to such degree that he is writing a column making up his own views...People need to be feeded particulary journalists and architects.

CRISIS MANAGEMENT HIGH TECH MUSEUM/CENTER OF NORTH QUEENSLAND.
It is OK with War memorials but when the whole Townsville City begin to look like giant war memorial it is too much! A City has to have other attractions than reminders of wars. Townsville have nothing to offer Younger generations of international tourists other than Magnetic Island at this point in time. Kissing Point and the Jezzine Barracks need to be a world class attraction and the war-people have to share the public space with other needs and demands Townsville have. A modern contemporary art museum for North Queensland can blend very well with a military museum and contemporary international top-artists, architects, engineers and designers should design the whole concept and not by military generals or politicians. Being the bookend of The Strand it has to be something extraordinary and delightful development.
As Kissing Point is a neutral federal land Thuringowa City and Townsville City could at least "amalgamate" in a mutual interest - on this matter, to develop Jezzine Barracks/Kissing Point -, would be a very modest request as it would serve the whole population and the rest of North Queensland and the Nation in large. Only that way, it would be an educational revolution and an important message to our future generations in the new world of crisis.
